TC 1.0 Released

A milestone worth mentioning: We have just released the official version 1.0 of Tournament Control for Windows. There have been a number of changes under the hood since the beta versions that have been in use at recent tournaments, but most noticeable is the introduction of a login screen.

With this security improvement we have now made the program freely available to download from a new downloads page on our website.  Of course, it is still of little use to anyone unless they have purchased a tournament in the system.

The other advantage that the new login screen brings is that the same program can now support multiple simultaneous tournaments. We’re hoping that this will be put to good use soon!

app_searchingMeanwhile the Tournament Viewer app for Android has also been developed further, with the main new feature being the ability to search for games by player name, grading code (club) and game code. This makes it much easier to find your game, check what time it is scheduled for, and set notifications for when it gets moved to next on, etc. Remember that you can also get notifications when games finish, including who won, so you can keep up with the results of any games you are interested in.

Notifications normally require the Android user to make a small in-app purchase, which sometimes they dont have any credit on their device to make. Now a club running a tournament can offer all users at that tournament the ability to use notifications: it will be free for the users, and just $20 per tournament for the club. Simply select this add-on when you purchase your tournament.

Thanks to feedback from players and clubs, we have lots of great ideas for future development of Tournament Control, from printing scoresheets, to emailing game times and reminders to players, to controlling the tournament from your phone! If you have any suggestions we’d love to hear them – please get in touch using the contact form on our home page, or by leaving a comment below.
